Our Flame Retardant Rubber Product Range

As a specialist flame retardant rubber manufacturer, Gayatri Rubbers & Chemicals Ltd engineers a complete portfolio of fire resistant rubber profiles, compounds, foams and moulded components. Every material below can be supplied in an EN 45545-2 HL3 flame retardant grade for railway and fire-safety applications.

EPDM Rubber

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is our most widely used elastomer for flame retardant rubber profiles, prized for outstanding weather, ozone and UV resistance. GRCL manufactures RDSO-compliant EPDM sealing sections and HL3-grade fire retardant EPDM for railway and architectural sealing.

Technical Features: −40°C to +130°C service range · Shore A 50–85 · halogen-free HL3 grade available.
Benefits: 7+ year service life, excellent compression set, low flame spread and smoke density.
Applications: door & window seals, gangway bellows, glazing gaskets, solar mounting seals.
Industries Served: railways, architecture, solar, defence.
Why Choose GRCL: in-house compounding and NABL-accredited fire testing for certified EN 45545-2 HL3 performance.

Silicone Rubber

Silicone rubber profiles deliver an extreme temperature range and inherent fire resistance, making them ideal for metros, aerospace, electrical and food-grade sealing where flame retardancy and purity are critical.

Technical Features: −60°C to +250°C · excellent electrical insulation · inherently flame retardant.
Benefits: superb compression set, UV/ozone stability, low toxicity combustion behaviour.
Applications: metro seals, smart-meter gaskets, LED/electrical grommets, autoclave & oven seals.
Industries Served: railways & metro, aerospace, electrical, pharma, food.
Why Choose GRCL: custom Shore-A compounding and HL3-validated silicone grades.

Neoprene Rubber

Neoprene (Polychloroprene) combines oil, chemical and mechanical toughness with excellent inherent flame retardancy — a proven flame retardant rubber for railway, marine and industrial gaskets exposed to fuels or chemicals.

Technical Features: −35°C to +100°C · high tear and abrasion resistance · flame-retardant grades.
Benefits: resists oil, ozone and weathering; excellent mechanical strength.
Applications: anti-vibration mounts, high-tear gaskets, bridge bearings, marine seals.
Industries Served: railways, defence, infrastructure, electrical, sports.
Why Choose GRCL: vibration-tested, custom-compounded neoprene for critical mounts.

PVC Profiles

Extruded PVC profiles offer an economical, flame retardant sealing solution for construction, electrical trunking and general-purpose edging where cost efficiency and self-extinguishing behaviour are required.

Technical Features: rigid & flexible grades · self-extinguishing · custom die profiles.
Benefits: economical, weather resistant, easy to fabricate.
Applications: edge trims, glazing beads, cable trunking, sealing strips.
Industries Served: construction, electrical, infrastructure.
Why Choose GRCL: tight-tolerance extrusion and colour-matched flame retardant compounds.

Rubber Compounds

GRCL develops custom rubber compounds — including halogen-free flame retardant formulations — tuned to each customer's hardness, strength and fire-performance specification, all validated in our NABL-accredited laboratory.

Technical Features: EPDM, silicone, neoprene, nitrile & blends · oxygen index ≥ 32%.
Benefits: repeatable batch quality, full FST traceability, tailored properties.
Applications: extrusion, moulding and calendering feedstock.
Industries Served: railways, automotive, industrial OEMs.
Why Choose GRCL: in-house R&D and EN 45545-2 HL3 compound validation.

Rubber Foams & Sponge

Sponge and closed-cell rubber foams provide lightweight, flame retardant sealing and insulation with excellent compression recovery for railway, HVAC and enclosure gasketing.

Technical Features: open & closed-cell EPDM/neoprene foam · low water absorption.
Benefits: thermal & acoustic insulation, cushioning, flame retardant options.
Applications: door & hatch gaskets, HVAC seals, enclosure padding.
Industries Served: railways, HVAC, electrical enclosures.
Why Choose GRCL: consistent density control and fire-safe foam grades.

Railway Rubber Components

GRCL manufactures 65 of the 75 rubber components used in a modern railway coach — a complete range of railway flame retardant rubber parts approved for Indian Railways and built to EN 45545-2 HL3.

Rubber Products — Frequently Asked Questions

Which rubber compounds are available in flame retardant grades?

EPDM, silicone, neoprene and nitrile are all supplied in flame retardant grades. EPDM is the workhorse for weather and ozone resistant sealing, silicone handles the widest temperature range and is inherently fire resistant, and neoprene adds oil and chemical resistance. Each flame retardant rubber compound is formulated in-house and can be tuned to a specified Shore A hardness, tensile strength and elongation.

What is the difference between rubber profiles and rubber extrusions?

Extrusion is the process — uncured compound is forced through a die and vulcanised into a continuous length. A profile is the resulting cross-section: a P-seal, D-section, U-channel, tube or a custom shape drawn to your drawing. GRCL produces both standard and bespoke fire resistant rubber extrusions, plus moulded and spliced parts for closed-loop seals.

Are your railway rubber components RDSO approved?

Yes. GRCL is a registered RDSO-approved vendor supplying railway rubber components to Indian Railways — door and window seals, gangway bellows, rail pads, anti-vibration mounts and cable grommets — with EN 45545-2 HL3 fire performance where the specification calls for it. Test certificates accompany every dispatch.

Can you develop a custom rubber compound for our application?

Custom compounding is a core capability. Share the operating temperature, media exposure, fire class and service life you need, and our R&D team will develop and validate a compound against it in our NABL-accredited laboratory. This applies equally to industrial rubber components and to safety-critical transit parts.
